Windows randomly hangs.

I don't know where to start, so I'll describe the problem that recently occurs. I'm also clueless when it comes to technical stuff, so a bit of hand holding would be appreciated.

For about a few months now, this computer I've built has been going through "memory management" bsods. Seemingly random, sometimes during a game, sometimes from log in. The first time, I seem to have fixed it but the bsods occured after a few months, and ever since it has been happening off and on again with months in between. I finally got fed up and decided to run memtest86, and found a few dozen errors. I'm running on 2x4gb sticks, so I removed one of them and ran memtest again. No problems after a few passes, so I ran with 4gb for a while, until the new ram came. During this time, I didn't get any more bsods; rather, the screen would just freeze at random times, and I'd be forced to just hold the power button and restart. I thought this was because of the 4gb, but when the new ram came in, the hang up happened again randomly. Now I'm just confused as to whether or not it was the ram in the first place? I seemed to have stopped the bsods but now the freezes are occuring more frequently than the bsods before.

I've also run several scans from Malwarebyte, reran the memtest, and the memory diagnostics tool. Nothing comes up.

I appreciate the help.
