(Excuse me, 5 min. Skipped the pin thread. Fixing the post now)
I'm pretty novice at setting up networks, but for as long as I've had this computer, I have never been able to plug it into the modem directly because of logistical issues. So when I had it built for me, I asked for a wireless card.
The computer is pushing 7 years old now, with mostly the same parts and no new parts in the last 6 months.
The wireless network has been giving me quite a bit of trouble in terms of stability, and it seems other wireless devices in the house do not suffer from this. I can only blame my network card. So I decided to buy a 50ft cable and finally plug in.
My computer does not even recognize the cable. It's a cat5e cable which I presumed to be the correct type. Plugged into a miniport which the light glows yellow upon connection.
I've tried searching the internet and it seems most say to uninstall the network adapter in device manager. Couldn't find it even after revealing hidden devices, though I tried uninstall WAN Miniport IP. Nothing. So I restored.
Now I'm just stumped. Any solutions? Could my computer just somehow not be equipped to handle a physical connection?
