Need help getting my external hard drive to work again

My buddy accidentally broke off the usb port to my Western Digital external hard drive when he took it apart to fix the loose case. We tried hooking the hard drive itself up to his Thermaltake docking station. The computer recognizes that there is 900 gigs of important files on there, but they are unallocated and cannot be accessed. We're having trouble figuring out how to fix this so that he can just install it internally into my computer.
