Infected, but I know not with what

So there's an IT specialist at my job who recently had me do some de-virusing because I wanted to use their network with my laptop. As far as I knew, it was clean, but he ran a few programs and told me I was "pretty seriously infected" but didn't give me any clue what could be doing it.

Since then, I've had to put my system through a gauntlet of anti-malware programs and I've pulled off a variety of results, not the least of which include things like CrossRider and Tubesaver, which are apparently pretty bad.

Since I began this quest, I've noticed some new symptoms on my system.

Firefox pops up windows when I do google searches from the bar.

My CPU seems to be maxed at 100%, with 95% taken up by taskeng.exe

JRT seems to keep finding stuff in my firefox profile, but can do nothing to remove it, apparently.

Anyhow, I don't know what to do next. For all intents and purposes, my system is fine. I have no glitches or weirdnesses other than what I've described.

I do have a weird issue with MBAM and MBAR.

Both seem to have issues when scanning certain files in skype and IMVU. they don't like oddly named extensions like .log or .pickle and it causes their scans to hand indefinitely on them. This has rendered MBAR useless. I didn't name em, the programs did.

Any help on what to do to make sure my system is clean and clear would be very greatly appreciated.
