Can't boot, hung at avgidsha.sys then at CLASSPNP.sys

Hi, my Samsung Notebook 300E won't boot. It hung at ../drivers/avgidsha.sys in Safe Mode. This is a known problem. I followed the AVG instructions, making one of their rescue USBs (Linux) and renaming all the avg drivers as .bak. Now it hangs on ../drivers/CLASSPNP.sys. Others have also had the same result, but there doesn't seem to be an easy solution, from what I have read.

I have removed my own files with the rescue disk, and am inclined to believe that I am going to have to reinstall Windows 7 (I don't have a disk but have read that I can legally download it and activate with the key on the notebook), but I am also more than willing to do a little diagnostics or whatever, if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do.

I am not sure if reinstalling from an iso would involve wiping off all my software etc, or whether one can install on top and keep everything intact.

Would appreciate any help and advice,

Andrew
