High CPU usage (50% even when idle)

I found this forum when my laptop was infected by qvo6, and I've removed that hijacker successfully using the instructions here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-qvo6.com-browser-hijacker), thanks very much to all the volunteers!

Not sure if I'm being more sensitive to my laptop's changes because of the qvo6 incident, but recently I've found that my CPU usage is always high - at least 50% even when I'm not running any programs.

When I open Windows Task Manager the numbers in CPU never add up to 50%, so I'm not sure what process is hogging it. Once I open Chrome, it can go up to 80-90%, which hasn't really happened before (I usually can use Chrome, Firefox, iTunes, Microsoft Word simultaneously without any problems).

Would someone be able to help me with this? As mentioned, when my laptop was infected with qvo6, I ran iExplore, adwcleaner, malwarebytes and the scans are clear except for a "##### C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XX_clean\prefs.js"
